In dit proefschrift wordt onderzoek beschreven dat zich bezighoudt met de perceptieve aspecten van polyfone muziek. Muziek is polyfoon als er verschillende melodisch significante partijen tegelijk voorkomen. Hierdoor zijn er dikwijls gelijktijdige tonen die apart waargenomen moeten worden.
